The 1912 Stonington Opera House is located
on Deer Isle, an enchanted island off the coast of Downeast Maine. The
Opera House is located at the head of Stonington's commercial
fish pier, which remains one of the largest in landings on the eastern
seaboard, and can be seen clearly from the harbor because of its simple and direct sign: OPERA HOUSE.
Deer Isle
is an hour and a half from Bangor, three hours northeast of Portland,
and well worth the journey.
