TITLE: Upcoming Concerts at the Stonington Opera House are Not to Be Missed
Stonington, ME – You won’t want to miss these upcoming concerts at the Stonington Opera House featuring two distinct musical voices from Maine.
Breakin’ Strings bluegrass band will return to the Opera House for a raucous encore performance on Friday, September 5 at 7pm. The last time they took the stage they played to a sold out house that kept us all energized for days.
Known for their fun, jam-packed flavor of bluegrass including great instrumentals, vocals, harmonies, and a hard drive Bluegrass sound this five member Nashville recording group plays a cross between traditional bluegrass and rock-inflected jam-grass.
On Friday, August 11 at 7pm the Danny Fisher-Lochhead Large Ensemble will take the Opera House stage. This band of eight plays music rooted in Jazz traditions with their own distinct sound. This band is made up of some of the most exciting improvising musicians in the state, and the music they make together, while it bears the markings of its roots in the Jazz tradition, is distinctly on its own terrain.
Danny Fisher-Lochhead moved to Downeast Maine in 2015 seeking a new logic to his life and musical pursuits. At that time he started slowly laying the groundwork and musical will to assemble the ensemble in Maine. The current group came into being in 2023 and they released their album “World of Difference” in 2025.
Audiences will remember Fisher-Lochhead as the opening act for the Dear Isle Jazz Festival on three different occasions: 2019 opening for the Emmet Cohen Trio, 2021 opening for Hamid Drake, and 2022 opening for Craig Taborn.
“After a number of years of playing the opening slot at the jazz festival with smaller configurations, I’m really looking forward to bringing my large ensemble project to the Opera House to play a full program. We’ll be playing the music from our last record, World of Difference, as well as a number of newer pieces. This band feels like a real testament to the creative potential in Maine and it means a lot to be able to present this music at the Opera House to the downeast community,” Fisher-Lochhead says.
Tickets for Opera House Arts concerts are $25 each and half price for ages 17 and under. For more information or to purchase tickets visit operahousearts.org.
