Emma Rosa Went is a Brooklyn-based freelance theatre director. In New York, she has developed and presented work at Red Bull Theater (Gallathea); The Playwrights Realm (Initiative); The Drama League (Beckett Without Beckett); The Tank (Old Names for Wildflowers, Courage! To the Field!); The Brick, Dixon Place, Mercury Store, Trans Lab at WP, and many other venues. Regional work includes: Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (Bake-Off ’21); CT Shakespeare Festival (A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Regional Broadway World Award for Best Direction of a Play); Scranton Shakespeare Festival (As You Like It, Richard III, Henry IV); Weston Playhouse, and others. Emma has received both the Classical Directing Fellowship and the First Stage Residency from the Drama League Directors Project, and is a past participant of the SDCF Observership Program and the OSF FAIR Program. She has served as an assistant director off-broadway at TFANA, Red Bull, Atlantic, & Rattlestick, and regionally at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Emma also coaches privately and has been a guest-instructor at The Freeman Studio NYC, Scranton Preparatory School, & University of Colorado Boulder. SDC Associate Member.
