TITLE: EXPANDED OPERA HOUSE ARTS PROGRAMMING OFFERS THINGS TO DO ON MONDAYS, AND ADDS THURSDAY OFFERINGS THROUGHOUT THE WINTER
Stonington, Maine – Opera House Arts is pleased to announce extended programming in our lobby throughout the winter, including $5 Movie Mondays with food and drinks, Open Mic nights on the first Thursday of the month, Trivia nights on the second Thursday of each month, and Read A Play Thursday on the Third Thursdays of the month.
“We want to fill a gap on Mondays since there isn’t a lot open, so we’ve started a new series called, “Something To Do on a Monday.” Being able to see movies we all love, or have always wanted to see but never did, for only five dollars, is going to be fun!” said Pam Getto, General Manager at Opera House Arts. “We’ll have food for sale like pizza, soup, chili, and of course popcorn, and each movie will feature a Signature Cocktail.”
The Monday movies lineup for January is: January 9: Dirty Dancing; January 16: The Wedding Singer; January 23: Mad Max:Fury Road; January 30: This Is Spinal Tap. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or ahead of time at operahousearts.org. Monday movies start at 6pm, and the Lobby will be open for food and drink beginning at 5pm.
Thursdays at the Opera House is also adding programming. By popular demand, our Open Mic will now be a monthly event on the first Thursday of the month, and will feature a variety of performers. Pizza, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase. Jenn Adams, Community & Learning Associate, says, “It has been so great to have people coming for events in the lobby after the isolation of the pandemic. I love how welcoming and beautiful our lobby is, and you can’t beat the view of the harbor while you are listening to music or chatting with friends.”
In addition to Open Mic, Opera House Arts is excited to bring back Trivia Night to the lobby every second Thursday of the month. Our first Trivia Night will be Thursday, February 9.
Read A Play Thursday will take place on the third Thursday of the month, beginning January 19. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee with snacks as we read a play out loud together in our lobby. Be a reader, or just come to hang out with friends and listen. Each month will have a different theme, from mystery to comedy to romance, from classics to new favorites. January’s theme is Mystery, and we will read The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie.
