Community Event.
Talk of the Towns
Don’t miss the next free community gathering presented by the Town of Stonington Wednesday, April 24 from 6-8pm. Small-scale aquaculture is starting to boom in our area – what are local aquafarmers doing, what do we know, what are we learning, what are we EATING?! Our fisheries are an important aspect of local food security. Come learn, visit, question, nosh!
The gathering will include a conversation facilitated by Linda Nelson, Stonington’s Economic & Community Development Director, with the audience and special guests Abby Barrows, Deer Isle Oyster Company; Marsden Brewer, Pen Bay Farmed Scallops; Christian Brayden, ME Aquaculture Association; Jaclyn Robidoux, Maine Sea Grant; and Mike Thalhauser, Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries.
Social hour with seaweed and other aquaculture snacks from 6-7pm, facilitated conversation from 7-8pm. Special thanks to food sponsors El El Frijoles. Other food samples will be provided by Atlantic Sea Farms and more.
Co-sponsored by the Island Institute and Maine Sea Grant.
Talk of the Towns Series
The evening is the fourth in a new, free series of gatherings and conversations convened by the Town of Stonington, hosted by Opera House Arts, and sponsored by the Island Institute on topics that directly impact island and area residents.
