Support Opera House Arts

There are many ways to give!

Do you believe in the power of the performing arts to inspire, illuminate, and entertain? Your gift of any amount helps keep this theatre’s lights burning bright all year long! Please help ensure the historic Stonington Opera House remains a vibrant part of our island’s unique cultural landscape and Stonington’s iconic waterfront in its second century.

Please also consider:

Housing an artist! Each summer we seek housing for actors, musicians, and designers. Please contact us if you have a spare guest room, cottage, or apartment that you would be willing to donate for a night, week, or month.

A qualified charitable contribution if you are 70.5 years of age or older. You can make an otherwise taxable distribution from an IRA that is paid directly from the IRA to a qualified charity. Under current law, every IRA account holder must withdraw an RMD annually beginning at age 72. The RMD is treated as ordinary income for tax purposes. A qualified charitable distribution counts toward your required minimum distribution.

A gift of real estate. Substantial tax benefits are available to property owners when they assign their home or other property to Opera House Arts, either in their will, or while they are still living on the property. Gifts of real estate can include homes, land, commercial real estate, condos, or rental properties – on the Island or off.

Joining the Second Century Society by including Opera House Arts in your planned giving. A simple bequest can ensure your legacy continues while also reducing capital gains, inheritance and/or income tax.
